Story :
Due
the time when Bhoothnath returns to ‘Bhoot World’ he has been welcomed
with rudeness and strong disapproval from other ghosts. That's due to
bringing disfavouring to the ghost-community for getting bullied by a
kid on Earth. Subsequent to the humiliation, Bhoothnath decides to
redeem himself and come back to scare a bunch of kids.
Bhoothnath’s
search for kids brings him to Akhrot, a slum kid who is also the only
person who can see him. Together they agree to help each other and their
friendship sees them get involved in a cause that is bigger than they
had ever imagined. To move further they will need to take on one of the
country’s most powerful and corrupt politician Bhau. The Lok Sabha
elections are nearing and Bhau’s victory is a mere formality, or is it?
In
a world, where a common man is afraid of politics, will a common man’s
ghost overcome his fear to stand up for what’s right and fight against
injustice? Bhoothnath Returns is an entertaining tale of good against
evil, weak against powerful, past against future.
Analysis :
Firstly,
there's a feeling that the title of this Amitabh Bachchan starrer film
is a bit confusing. ‘Election Returns’ or ‘Any Body Can Vote’ could have
been the better title for the film. Secondly, there was also another
feeling that director Nitesh Tiwari forgot that Amitabh Bachchan is
playing a ghost in the second half.
Bhoothnath Returns is a film
which is full of loopholes, yet the brilliant performance by Amitabh
Bachchan, Boman Irani and child artist Parth Bhalerao makes it a
watchable film.
Basic idea of Bhoothnath seems to have
lost somewhere in the second part. Except for the first 45 minutes,
Bhoothnath Returns is a serious film which has a very serious political
theme. Amitabh Bachchan speeches in the film, wherein he is convincing
people to vote, appear to be more like an election campaign . In fact,
another fact could be that Election Commission can use the film to
increase the voters’ turnout this election season. Don’t be surprised if
you hear in a few days that Bhoothnath Returns has been exempted from
entertainment tax. Political films are nothing new even if we leave the
past one's. Recent past there have been several films made on the
Politics. To name few political films are Jai Ho, O Teri and
Youngistaan. Therefore, there was nothing exceptional about Bhoothnath
Returns except the difference that the lead cast is a ghost.
Performance :
Bhoothnath
was all about the bonding between a kid and a ghost. In the second
part, bonding has taken the back seat and politics have come in the
driving seat. Amitabh Bachchan is again brilliant, and Boman Irani as a
corrupt politician is not far behind when acting is concerned. On the
contrary the star of the film is child artist Parth Bhalerao. Shah Rukh
Khan and Ranbir Kapoor are there for just a few seconds in the film.
Anurag Kashyap has also done a cameo in the Bhoothnath Returns.
Final Word: Bhoothnath Returns Review It
would be wrong if we keep expectation that there will a return of the
old Bhoothnath in Bhoothnath Returns. It’s a different film with a
different theme. Watch it for performance of Amitabh Bachchan, Boman
Irani and child artist Parth Bhalerao. Let us know your view about the
film. I would like to go with a 3 star for Bhoothnath Returns.
Bhoothnath Returns Releases on 11th APRIL 2014
